Augsburg Confession Article 26 Of the Distinction of Meats

It may sound boring, “the distinction of meats” but this article takes what we’ve already confessed about the righteousness of faith and the proper use of human traditions, and applies them to things like mandatory fasts, fish on Fridays in Lent, days of obligation, basically anything in the church that is deemed “necessary” other than the righteousness of faith. This article also explores WHY we have traditions in the church, which is for the sake of discipline and mortification of the sinful flesh, NOT for the sake of gaining grace, forgiveness, or favor from God.
