Sermon on Luke 21.25-36 for Populus Zion, the 2nd Sunday in Advent
The Seventh commandment teaches us us “to improve and protect his property and business.” Did Jesus violate the commandment when He allowed demons to go into a herd of swine and the demons drive the swine off a cliff in Matthew 8:28–34; Mark 5:1-20; and Luke 8:26–39? Today we look at Luke 12:41-48 to answer the question "Are all Christians the managers of which Jesus speaks? Pastor delves into just what a "manager" or "steward" is in the Ancient Near East, what Jesus means by His parable, how that that applies to people today. Do you have a question you've always wanted to ask but haven't? Email pastor at atpholycross@gmail.com and he'll answer your question with a short video. One of the Lord's most puzzling parables is the parable of the unjust steward in Luke 16:1-9. What exactly is Christ commending? What trait of the shrewd steward is the disciple to emulate? In short, what does this mean??? In this edition of ATP we tackle this parable and see that the Lord is encouraging His disciples to good works for their neighbor. If you've got questions ATP will answer them. Send your question(s) to atpholycross@gmail.com and we'll post an answer here. Don't forget to subscribe!
An astute viewer asks about the Gospel of Q (not the quartermaster from James Bond). Did Matthew and Luke use a source document? If so, what happened to it? What's at stake with this idea? Email your questions to atpholycross@gmail.com
Someone asks if there is a difference between asking God to forgive our sins in Matthew's version of the Our Father and debts in Luke's version. Send your questions (about this or another topic) to atpholycross@gmail.com
