An Eastern Orthodox theologian wrote a work entitled "The River of Fire" which posits that God is not wrathful toward sinners because He is good. The paper posits that Western Theology, which teaches God's wrath and Christ's atonement, causes atheism. What does one do when he realizes that his church (or church body) teaches false doctrine?
